For tattoo studios

Book the artist, take the deposit, and get paid at the chair.

Clients book a consultation or a session with the artist they want and pay a deposit to hold it. At checkout the deposit comes off, the client adds a tip, and aftercare rings up at the Register.

What gets in the way, and what changes

Deposits chased through your inbox

Clients ask about a booking in your messages, you send a payment handle, and you match each deposit to a name by hand.

With Stacwork

Clients book online and pay the deposit as part of booking, and it comes off the bill at checkout on its own.

Every artist keeps a different book

Guest artists, artists in three days a week, and convention weekends off, on calendars the front desk has to check one by one.

With Stacwork

Each artist sets their own hours and time off from their phone, and online booking offers only the times they work.

Sessions moved the night before

A client wants to push Saturday's session on Friday night, and the artist finds out when nobody walks in.

With Stacwork

Clients move their own booking from the email link only up to your cutoff, and the artist gets an email whenever a session is moved or canceled.

How it runs

One piece, consultation to paid

A forearm piece with Rae: a consultation first, then a four-hour session.

Sample names and figures.

  1. Mon 11:20

    A consultation booked online

Jordan picks Rae and a 30-minute consult on Thursday.

  2. Thu 16:45

    The session booked, deposit paid

After the consult, Jordan books a four-hour session with Rae online and pays a $100 deposit.

  3. Fri 13:00

A reminder before the long sit Team and up

The day before, Jordan is reminded of his session, and again an hour out.

  4. Sat 17:10

Checked out with a tip for Rae

The $100 deposit comes off the $600 piece, and Jordan adds a tip before paying by card.

    Aftercare at the Register

A tin of aftercare balm, scanned and paid in cash, with the change due shown.

  6. Sun 10:00

A review request for the finished piece is drafted, ready for you to approve.

Features for tattoo studios

Built around the artist's book and the front desk

Anything tagged Team and up needs Team or Unlimited. Everything else is on every plan, Free included.

Booking and deposits

  • Consultations and sessions booked online

Clients book an open time online for the services you mark as bookable.

  • Clients choose an artist, or anyone

Clients choose a provider, or anyone available, when more than one can do the service.

  • A deposit when a client books

Take a deposit when a client books, to hold the time.

  • Clients move a booking, up to a cutoff

Clients cancel or move their own booking from a link in the email. Moving it online closes at the cutoff you set, and you can switch online changes off.

Artists and rooms

  • Each artist's own hours and days off

Each person on your team sets their own hours, more than one window a day if they need it, and time off for a whole or part day from their phone. Online booking follows.

  • Private rooms, never double booked

Attach a room or a piece of equipment to an appointment when you schedule it, and it cannot be double booked.

  • Artists see only their own bookings

By default, a Team member sees only the work assigned to them, and the client, invoices, and payments of that work.

  • Mark a no-show, with its history kept

Move work through its statuses, put a job or project on hold with a reason, mark a no-show, or reopen finished work, with every change kept in its history.

Checkout and aftercare

  • Tips added at checkout

Check out on site: the bill comes from the work with the deposit taken off, the client can add a tip, and you charge a card, record cash or a check, or send a pay link.

  • Aftercare products at the Register

Ring up sales on the Register: tap catalog items, scan a barcode, or key in a custom amount, with line and order discounts.

  • Cash, a card reader, or a QR code

Check out at the Register with cash and change due, a card on a connected reader, or the customer's own phone by QR code, split between cash and card if they like. The customer can add a tip at check out.

  • A Cashier role for aftercare sales

A Cashier role sees only the Register and their own sales. Each person opens a cash drawer with a float and closes it with a count.

Bring clients back

  • Reminders before every session Team and up

Appointment reminders go out the day before and an hour before, sent on their own or drafted for you to approve, as you choose.

  • Review requests after a finished piece Team and up

Review requests are drafted after finished work.

  • Notes and tags on every client

Each client has one record: contacts, service and billing addresses, notes, and tags.

  • Every deposit and payment on their timeline

Each client's timeline shows every quote, job, invoice, and payment.

Questions from tattoo studios

Straight answers about how Stacwork runs your day.

Can clients pay a deposit when they book?

Yes. The client pays a deposit as part of booking, which holds the time. At checkout the bill comes from the appointment with the deposit taken off, so it is never counted twice, and the client can add a tip.

Can clients book a consultation before the session?

Yes. Add the consultation to your catalog as its own service and mark it bookable online. Clients pick an open time with the artist they want, or anyone available.

Can each artist keep their own hours?

Yes. Each artist sets their hours, with more than one window a day if needed, and time off for a whole or part day from their phone. Online booking follows, and by default each artist sees only the work assigned to them.

What happens when a client wants to move their session?

They move it from the link in their confirmation email, and moving it online closes at the cutoff you set. The artist gets an email when a session is moved or canceled, and you can switch online changes off.

Can I sell aftercare at the front desk?

Yes. Switch on Selling products and ring up aftercare at the Register by tapping an item or scanning a barcode. Take cash with the change due, a card on a connected reader, or the client's phone by QR code.

Can I keep two artists out of the same private room?

Yes. Add each private room or chair to your catalog, attach it to the session when you schedule it, and it cannot be double booked. A client booking online holds the artist; the room is attached by your front desk.
