When Housecall Pro costs less

At a $300 average card payment, Housecall Pro costs less overall once online card payments pass roughly $3,000 a month on Basic for a solo operator, $13,900 on Essentials for 5 or fewer people, or $30,800 on MAX for 6 to 8 people (against Stacwork Unlimited), because its 2.99% online rate is below Stacwork's card rates. Larger average payments push those points higher, and smaller ones lower.

When Housecall Pro is the better fit

We would rather you pick the right tool. Housecall Pro is likely the better choice if:

  • You need route optimization and GPS tracking for your crews today.
  • You charge cards on file automatically.
  • You need QuickBooks sync, two-way texting, or offline viewing in a native mobile app today.
  • You want consumer financing, payroll, or AI call answering in the same product.
  • You get leads from marketplaces such as Thumbtack and want them to flow into your jobs.
  • You run a team of 5 or fewer taking more than roughly $13,900 a month by online card, where Essentials costs less in total.

Moving from Housecall Pro

Your client list is yours. Here is how to export it from Housecall Pro.

    Sign in to Housecall Pro as an admin.

    Select Customers in the left navigation bar.

    Click Actions, then select Export from the drop-down.

    Confirm the email address and click Send file.

    Open the email from Housecall Pro with the CSV file. If it has not arrived within an hour, check your spam folder.

Per its help center, only admins can export, and the customer list arrives by email as a CSV file; the export article does not list the fields or a row limit.

Is Stacwork cheaper than Housecall Pro?

It depends on team size and how customers pay. In our example, a 6-person team taking $12,000 a month by online card pays $529 a month on Stacwork Team and $688 on MAX, at monthly list prices. At a $300 average card payment, Housecall Pro costs less above roughly $13,900 a month by card for 5 or fewer people, and above $30,800 for 6 to 8 people against Stacwork Unlimited, because its 2.99% online rate is lower.

Can I move my clients from Housecall Pro to Stacwork?

Not yet as a file import. An admin can export your customer list from Customers, Actions, Export, and Housecall Pro emails it as a CSV file. Stacwork's client import is coming soon; until then, you can add clients as you go.

Does Stacwork have route optimization like Housecall Pro?

Not yet. Housecall Pro includes routes and GPS tracking on Essentials and route optimization on MAX. Stacwork shows work on a map but does not plan routes or track vehicles today.

Can I cancel Stacwork any time?

Yes. Stacwork bills monthly or yearly with no long-term contract, and you cancel, downgrade, or switch plans online from Settings; a cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Housecall Pro's help center says it cannot fully process a cancellation until its team has spoken with the account owner by phone, and its terms list an email address for cancelling.

What does a bank payment cost?

On Stacwork Team, a bank payment costs Stacwork's 0.5% capped at $5 plus Stripe's 0.8% capped at $5, so at most $10. Housecall Pro lists a standard ACH fee of 1% per transaction, which may vary by plan, with no cap published; at 1%, a $5,000 invoice costs $50.

How does AI work in each product?

Housecall Pro includes AI Team members such as Analyst AI and Marketing AI free on all plans, and sells CSR AI for call answering as an add-on. Stacwork's AI drafts quotes, messages, and follow-ups, marks them as drafts, and waits for a person to approve before any of them reaches a customer, unless you choose autopilot for a routine email automation on Team and up.

Is there a free plan?

Stacwork has a Free plan for up to 2 team members, with quotes, deposits, e-signature, scheduling, online booking, invoicing, and payments, and every new account gets Team free for 7 days with no credit card. Housecall Pro offers a 14-day free trial of its MAX plan with no credit card required.
